Aurora Finals!

For the second year in a row, Realm Makers (a community of Christian sci-fi and fantasy writers) hosted the Aurora Contest. It’s purpose? to give aspiring authors an opportunity to get our writing on industry professionals’ radar.

This is a three-round contest, and last year my entry didn’t get past the second round. This year, to my great delight and many answered prayers, my story ‘Smoke and Mirrors‘ advanced to the final round, being one of the top three entries in both the Middle-Grade and Fantasy categories.

My story’s main antagonist, Serapis the Great, wasn’t particularly happy about this news.

Yes, I was pretty hard on Serapis. But sometimes, the truth hurts…

Many thanks to those who have helped shape and refine this story with their excellent critique input, including:

  • R.H. Cambridge
  • Karen Kolano
  • Jon Pitcher
  • Monica Sanchez
  • Amy Sayle
  • Melissa McGovern Taylor
  • David White

Without you, this would not have been possible!

The winners of each category will be announced on a December 13th live-stream. Regardless how it plays out, I’m thankful to be participating in the finals, and having the opportunity to learn, grow, and make new friends and connections. Thanks, Realm Makers!
